VistA EHR

The Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) is a nationwide system of electronic health records (EHRs) used by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Despite its importance, VistA has been plagued by problems. VistA has been criticized for being outdated, inflexible, and difficult to use. These problems have led to calls for VistA to be replaced by a new system.

In response to these criticisms, the VHA has been working on a modernization effort, called the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA4).
