MPE/iX

MPE/iX is a proprietary operating system developed by Hewlett-Packard (HP) for use on HP's 3000 series minicomputers. It is based on a combination of the MPE V operating system and HP's HP-UX operating system.

MPE/iX was first released in 1984 and was the first HP 3000 operating system to support the HP-UX operating system. HP continued to develop and release new versions of MPE/iX until the HP 3000 series was discontinued in 2003.

The last release of MPE/iX was version 7.5, which was released in 2001. This version added support for the HP-UX 11.0 operating system and included a number of other enhancements.

MPE/iX is a proprietary operating system, which means that it is not available for purchase by anyone other than HP. However, HP does make the source code available for certain versions of MPE/iX under a special license. This allows independent developers to create their own versions of MPE/iX, which can then be used on HP 3000 systems. What is MPE computer?
